Our mission
The Research Group on Educational Institution and Programme Development examines the development of educational institutions, training programmes, and professional communities. Our research focuses on the processes through which educational organisations respond to social, policy, and technological change, support teachers’ professional learning, and create sustainable and equitable learning environments.
The Research Group aims to generate new knowledge related to the development of educational institutions and programmes, to promote the professional use of research findings, and to strengthen the links between research, development, and educational practice. In our work, institutional and programme-level processes are interpreted within their broader social, policy, and international contexts.
Research areas
The main research areas of the Research Group include:
- teacher collaboration and resilience;
- organisational learning, organisational culture, and development capacity in educational institutions;
- teachers’ engagement in research and the use of research findings in educational practice;
- the educational dimensions of social sustainability;
- the impact of crises, digitalisation, and artificial intelligence on teacher education;
- international comparative research on training programmes and models of practice-based education.
Our approach
Our research is characterised by an interdisciplinary and multi-level approach. We examine individual professional learning in relation to institutional functioning, organisational culture, training systems, and the wider education policy environment. Particular attention is given to ensuring that our findings are accessible and relevant to educational institutions, teacher educators, teachers, and policy-makers.
The Research Group conducts quantitative, qualitative, comparative, and mixed-methods research. Our work includes the development of international databases and research instruments, the preparation of institutional and national case studies, questionnaire-based and interview-based research, and the analysis of development programmes and educational innovations.
Research and collaboration
The Research Group participates in national and international research and development projects, university and professional networks, and doctoral research. We collaborate with higher education institutions, teacher education centres, schools, professional organisations, and partners working in educational development.
Doctoral Students play an important role in the work of the Research Group. Their individual research projects contribute to the Group’s shared academic activities and research profile. The Research Group supports international and comparative research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the professional development of early-career researchers.
Contact and collaboration
The Research Group welcomes national and international research collaboration, joint projects, professional workshops, and partnerships with institutions and individual researchers.
